Pearson to Huntsville

Pearson to Muskoka, straight to the cottage or the resort

Most people looking for a Huntsville airport limo are in the same position. They have just landed at Pearson, a cottage weekend or a week at a resort ahead of them, and there is still a two and a half hour drive north between them and the dock. Nobody wants to start that by working out bus timetables in an arrivals hall.

Read the full introduction

This page is about the drive north, from the Pearson curb out to Huntsville, Deerhurst and the Muskoka lakes. If you are travelling the other way, or you want the wider regional picture, our Muskoka to Pearson page covers pickups across Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Baysville and the lakes.

01 · THE DRIVE NORTH

Pearson Airport to Huntsville, the drive, the timing and the cost

Huntsville is roughly 212 to 219 kilometres from Pearson by road, about two and a half hours in normal traffic. Anyone who runs it weekly plans for two and a half to three.

The route fits in one line. Out of the airport onto the 401, then Highway 400 north past Barrie, then Highway 11 north into Muskoka. Gravenhurst comes off at Highway 169 west, Bracebridge at Highway 118 west, Huntsville at Highway 60 east. Deerhurst, Hidden Valley, Peninsula Lake and Lake of Bays all come off that Highway 60 leg.

Now the honest part. This is a long run and the number moves. Friday afternoon northbound on Highway 400 is the worst of it, because every cottage in the region is trying to get there at once and the Toronto to Barrie stretch backs up badly. Sunday afternoon southbound is the mirror image, which matters when you are timing the return leg against a flight. Long weekends make both worse. We will not print a percentage on it, because the long weekend traffic figures circulating online do not trace back to any transport ministry source.

So the pickup time gets set around your flight and the day of the week, not a fixed rule. A Tuesday morning landing and a Friday 4 pm landing are not the same trip, and we would rather say that before you book than apologise afterwards.

02 · YOUR DROP-OFF

Where in Muskoka are you actually going?

Huntsville is the biggest town in Muskoka and the one most resort guests want, but Muskoka is a region, not a single address, and the drive changes depending on where you end up.

Huntsville and the Highway 60 corridor. The resort end. Deerhurst sits out on Peninsula Lake, Hidden Valley is on the same road, and Lake of Bays and Baysville run further east and south. The airport authority's published tariff lists Deerhurst by name, which tells you how established a destination it is.

Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and the lakes. Gravenhurst is about 165 kilometres from Pearson and comes in under two hours, so it is the short end of the region. Bracebridge is a little further on. Port Carling and the Rosseau side are a longer run than the map suggests, because the last stretch is in off Highway 11 on smaller roads, and published figures for that leg range from about 180 to about 208 kilometres depending on which cottage road you finish on.

Cottages, docks and water access. This is where a cottage run stops being a normal airport transfer. Plenty of Muskoka addresses are a lane and a lake name rather than a street number, and the islands on Lake Joseph are water access only. So send us a pin drop as well as the address, name the marina if a boat is meeting you, and tell us whether the driver should wait while the boat comes round. Those three details do more for the arrival than any vehicle upgrade.

03 · WHAT IT COSTS

What does a Huntsville airport limo cost, and how do you compare quotes?

We quote a flat rate for the car, agreed before you travel, not a meter running up Highway 11. The rate depends on the vehicle, the drop-off and how many people and bags you have, so the honest answer on a web page is to ask for a quote.

What we can give you is a public benchmark. The airport authority publishes an official tariff for the licensed taxis and limos that leave the Pearson curb, and it lists these destinations by name. Huntsville is $412 by taxi and $453 by limo, Deerhurst is $427 and $469, Bracebridge is $347 and $382, Gravenhurst is $315 and $346, taxes included. Those are the regulated curb rates, not ours, but they show you what a fair number for a two and a half hour run looks like.

Things that change the price

  • Vehicle. A sedan suits two or three with normal luggage, an SUV four to six, a Sprinter a group or a family with a lot of gear.
  • Where you are going. Gravenhurst is a shorter run than Huntsville, and a cottage road off Highway 60 is longer again.
  • Time of day. Overnight and very early pickups cost more across the industry, and we say so upfront.
  • Stops. A grocery or LCBO stop on the way up is charged by time, not buried in the fare.
  • Extra drop-offs. If you are dropping a second family at a different cottage, say so at booking.

The same tariff shows what the extras normally look like. Requested stops run $10 for each 10 minutes, each extra drop-off on the way is $15, and there is a $15 surcharge for more than four passengers or excess baggage. Drivers are not allowed to charge extra for credit card payments.

When you compare quotes, compare the same things. Ask three questions. Is HST included. Is the airport pre-arranged fee included. Is gratuity included. A $250 flat rate with tax, fee and tip added afterwards is not cheaper than a higher quote with everything already in it.

04 · DELAYS AND LATE LANDINGS

What happens if your flight is delayed?

Your flight number goes on the booking and we track it. Land 40 minutes late and your pickup moves 40 minutes later, at no charge. Land early and the car is there early.

After you land you get 60 minutes of free waiting time on international arrivals, which covers the walk, the border queue and the baggage belt on a normal day. If customs holds you longer, call or text the number on your confirmation and we hold the car. Nobody leaves because a bag was slow.

Delays matter more here than on a short GTA hop, because a two and a half hour drive north gets pushed into the dark and, in winter, into worse conditions. A flight that slips from 9 pm to midnight means arriving at a cottage road at half past two. Tell us at booking whether anyone will be there to meet you, and if not, where the key is and whether the lane is lit.

This is the main reason people book a car for the Muskoka run instead of a scheduled service. The shared van leaves Pearson at 2 pm whether your flight landed or not. A booked car waits.

05 · LUGGAGE AND VEHICLES

Which vehicle should you book for a cottage run?

Book by luggage, not by headcount. That is the mistake that causes the argument at the curb.

A cottage arrival is rarely four people and four cabin bags. It is golf clubs in July, skis in February, a cooler, a dog, a stroller and a week of groceries bought on the way up. Two travellers with two large cases are fine in a sedan. Four people with four large cases and sports gear are not, that is an SUV. A family with a dog and a shop, or a group of eight heading to one cottage, is a Sprinter. Tell us the number of bags and what shape they are.

Winter changes the vehicle question completely. Muskoka has municipally plowed roads and it has seasonal and private lanes, and some private lanes have no snow removal agreement at all. A sedan cannot do an unplowed lane in February. If your cottage is on a private road, find out who plows it and when, and tell us, because that decides both the vehicle and the spot where the car can safely stop.

Child seats need confirming at booking, not at the curb. Give us the child's age, weight and height so the right seat is fitted before your flight lands.

06 · OTHER WAYS TO GET THERE

Is there a cheaper way from Pearson to Huntsville?

Yes, and you should know about all of them. If budget matters more than timing, a private car is not always the right call, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong ride.

Northern Airport Passenger Service is the real scheduled option, and it is named on the airport's own long distance travel page. A shared van, check-in counters at both terminals, departing Pearson at 2 pm daily, dropping in Huntsville at the Holiday Inn Express on Howland Drive. Published fares are $118 adult one way on the morning departure and $138 on the late one, $114 and $134 for seniors and students, with 10 percent off a round trip. A fraction of the cost of a car. In return you travel on their clock, not yours.

Air Canada's Landline coach started running to Muskoka on 15 June 2026, two round trips a day, $49 for an adult and $15 for a child 15 and under, or included in the fare on an Air Canada ticket. It boards at the Terminal 1 ground transportation level at door Q. Here is the catch nobody mentions. It runs to Muskoka Airport, which is in Gravenhurst, 7.4 kilometres south of Bracebridge and roughly 50 minutes short of Huntsville. It solves the highway leg and leaves the last leg unsolved. Good deal for Gravenhurst or Bracebridge. For Huntsville you still need a car at the other end.

FlixBus does leave Terminal 1 and does reach Huntsville, about three hours twenty minutes, four times a week, fares from around $18 to $31, stopping at the Fairfield Inn in Gravenhurst, the Tru by Hilton in Bracebridge and the Holiday Inn Express in Huntsville. Ontario Northland runs four daily Toronto departures into Muskoka, but from Union Station and Yorkdale, not Pearson, so you cross the city first. And there are no scheduled flights into Muskoka Airport at all. Porter ran a summer seasonal service in 2019 and 2022 and did not bring it back.

A private car wins on a late landing, a group with real luggage, a cottage or dock address a coach cannot reach, kids in car seats, or a Sunday return timed against a flight. It does not win for one person with a backpack landing midday with time to spare.

07 · WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELLING

Cottage season, fall colours and winter roads

Muskoka has a season, and it changes this drive more than most Ontario routes do.

Cottage season runs roughly from Victoria Day, 18 May in 2026, through to Thanksgiving on 12 October. Through those months the Friday northbound and Sunday southbound pattern on Highway 400 and Highway 11 is a fact of life. Canada Day falls on 1 July and Labour Day on 7 September, and both pull a heavy wave. The first Monday in August drives just as much cottage traffic even though it is not a public holiday under Ontario's employment standards rules, so do not assume a quiet road just because the calendar looks normal.

The autumn weeks around Thanksgiving are the fall colour weeks in Muskoka, busy for a different reason. Cottagers are closing up, day visitors are driving north for the leaves, and both are on the same two highways. A lovely drive and a slow one. Book earlier than you would in August, because vehicles get thin on those weekends.

Winter is the season to be careful about, and not because of the highway. Highway 11 is well maintained and it gets cleared. The problem is the last kilometre. A cottage lane a local four wheel drive handles in January is not a road a sedan can commit to, and some private lanes are not cleared by anyone. Tell us what to expect, and if the honest answer is that the car stops at the top of the lane, we would rather agree that in advance than find out at one in the morning.

Good to know: Our vehicles run winter tires as policy. Ontario does not legally require them, despite what some travel sites claim, but on a Muskoka run in January it is not something to leave to chance.

Pearson to Huntsville FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question? Call us any time at (647) 525-5466.

How far is Huntsville from Toronto Pearson Airport?

Roughly 212 to 219 kilometres by road. Published figures differ because operators measure from different points at the airport and to different parts of town, so treat anything more precise with suspicion. Gravenhurst is closer, about 165 kilometres, with Bracebridge and Port Carling in between.

How long does it take to drive from Pearson to Huntsville?

About two and a half hours in normal traffic, and we plan for two and a half to three. Add time for a Friday afternoon northbound run on Highway 400 during cottage season, for long weekends, and for a Sunday afternoon southbound return. The route is the 401 to Highway 400 north, then Highway 11 north, then Highway 60 east into Huntsville.

Is there a shuttle from Toronto airport to Muskoka?

Yes. Northern Airport Passenger Service runs a shared van from Pearson, with check-in counters at both terminals and a 2 pm daily departure, serving Huntsville, Bracebridge and Gravenhurst. It is listed on the airport's own long distance travel page. FlixBus also runs from Terminal 1 to all three towns four times a week. Both cost far less than a car, and both run on a fixed schedule whether your flight landed or not.

Does the Air Canada Landline coach go to Huntsville?

No, and this trips people up. Landline started running to Muskoka on 15 June 2026 with two round trips a day, but it serves Muskoka Airport, which is in Gravenhurst, 7.4 kilometres south of Bracebridge and roughly 50 minutes short of Huntsville. At $49 for an adult it works well for Gravenhurst or Bracebridge. For Huntsville or a resort on Highway 60 you still need the last leg covered.

Can you drop us at a cottage, a private dock or a marina?

Yes, and the booking details matter more than usual. Send a pin drop as well as the address, because many Muskoka properties are a lane and a lake name rather than a street number. If a boat is meeting you, name the marina and say whether the driver should wait. Islands on Lake Joseph are water access only, so the car takes you to the water and the boat does the rest.

What happens if my flight is delayed and I land at midnight?

Your flight number is on the booking and we follow it, so a delay moves the pickup at no charge and an early landing means the car is already there. On this route a delay also means arriving at a cottage road in the dark, so tell us at booking whether anyone will be there to meet you and whether the lane is lit. International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting time after you land.

How much should a car from Pearson to Huntsville cost?

We quote a flat rate for your trip, but there is a public benchmark you can check. The airport authority's published tariff for licensed curb taxis and limos lists Huntsville at $412 and $453, Deerhurst at $427 and $469, Bracebridge at $347 and $382 and Gravenhurst at $315 and $346, taxes included. Those are the regulated curb rates rather than ours. When you compare quotes, confirm whether HST, the airport fee and gratuity are inside the number.
