We leave Shanty Bay westbound along Ridge Road, pick up Highway 400 southbound in Barrie, exit east onto the 407 ETR near Vaughan, then drop south on the 427 straight into the YYZ terminal loop. First, Highway 400 southbound between Barrie and Highway 9 — through the King City stretch — routinely crawls between roughly six-thirty and nine on weekday mornings. For a seven-a.m. YYZ flight, we build in an extra thirty to forty-five minutes and leave Shanty Bay earlier accordingly. Second, real lake-effect squalls roll in off Georgian Bay from late November through March, and Kempenfelt Bay generates its own whiteouts. Our chauffeurs run winter tires from November first and add cushion whenever the OPP posts an advisory.
